About Me

I’m Collin, a seasoned software developer with over a decade of experience in web and software development. I founded an agency where I worked with various companies and international organizations to build tools aimed at promoting change and transparency. In 2021, I was selected for the genesis cohort of Btrust Builders (formerly Qala), a program for African Bitcoin developers. During my time there, I deepened my understanding of Bitcoin’s theoretical foundations and honed my skills in building on the Bitcoin and Lightning networks. I also enjoy mentoring new developers in the Btrust Builders program, helping them navigate the space and develop their own skills.

My Bitcoin and Lightning Building Achievements

I received my initial grant from Superlunar to build EttaWallet, an open-source reference implementation of a daily spending wallet, which was proposed by the Bitcoin Design Community. This project allowed me to focus on creating a simple, user-friendly Bitcoin wallet for everyday use. With additional support from the Human Rights Foundation (HRF), I was able to scale EttaWallet and build a community around it, further enhancing its usability and adoption. I also co-founded Splice Africa, a company dedicated to enabling financial institutions in Africa to make cross-border payments for their customers using Bitcoin. Our work at Splice earned us 2nd place at the 2023 ABC Hackathon, an achievement I’m incredibly proud of.
